En sommarskola, två språkprogram!

One summer school, two language programmes

After a successful French Summer Programme in Paris in 2012, Sciences Po deepens and broadens its 2013 Summer School to give a chance to students from all over the world to live innovative academic and intensive language programmes.

During the summer of 2013, Sciences Po will offer two Summer Programmes in Menton and Paris tailored to the needs of international students. These innovative academic programmes are designed to reinforce students’ language proficiencies while allowing them to discover France’s rich historical and cultural resources. Students will become familiar with the French higher education system while working with a group of renowned professors from France’s top universities.

During the three-week Language Summer Programme in Menton, students will study French or Arabic in a region known for its mild climate, beautiful gardens, and beachside towns. This three week intensive program, open to beginning, intermediate and advanced students, will be taught by specialists and include 48 total course hours. In addition to classes that will allow students to discover, reinforce, or perfect their language skills, participants will also have the opportunity to explore the region during organised events such as cultural visits, film screenings and culinary outings. The Menton Programme will take place from June 7th to the 27th.

The Summer Programme in Paris offers two tracks: the French Intensive Programme for beginners and the French Applied to the Social Sciences Programme for intermediate and advanced students. Beginning students will have a total of 74 French course hours that will feature individual tutorials, small classes, and seminars to improve oral and written expression. In the Social Sciences Programme, intermediate and advanced students will have a total of 84 course hours that will include intensive French language classes, theatre workshops, and courses on French and European cultural history and political institutions. Students will study at the centrally-located Paris campus and have the opportunity to attend social events and visits to cultural monuments in Paris. At the end of the programme, students will be awarded a French Proficiency Certificate. The Paris Programme will take place from July 1st to July 26th.

Both programmes feature a rich academic and cultural agenda. Upon completion of the Menton or Paris Programme, students may transfer their undergraduate or graduate level academic credits to their home institution.
